NM2208 storybook project

This project was quite tiring and intensive for me as i was deeply involved in its production at every level.  After our group agreed on the overall story, i had to place the sequence of events into storyboards and frame them into illustration pages as we decided on a comic book approach.  The creative direction was also decided by me as i was the one who was doing the illustrations as well as final layouts and composition.
After the layouts are done, i sketched out the foreground objects scan them in and pass them to my groupmates to trace them.  (however in the later stages of the project, i switched over to live trace after improving the levels by adjusting them in photoshop which provided for a better effect than then tracing which were not very good)

After the traces were done, it was back to me to arrange them into the various composition for the illustrated pages.  Then they were again passed off to another group member to do the preliminary colors and fills.  After that i had to do touchup on the images as well as color the backgrounds and fills.  Touch up also included using the photoshop paint brush to create light shine and reflections off the images and smoothing the colors and textures.
I also did up a page liner to add to the pages where the main text and rhymes for our story would be placed.

Page numbers and extra activity pages where also added
The page number would be displayed as a card held by a tiny robot i drew in illustrator.  The cover was also design only after the inside pages where done and completed.

Assignment 6

This assignment is about giving meaning to words not just by its  spelling.  Therefore i've decided to chose the opening lyrics from the song don't stop believin by Journey.  As this is one of my favourite songs its easy to try to convey the meaning as required by this assignment.  The words for the opening also create 2 "scene" with a similar setting but still having a contrast and this is shown in the way i chose to portray the words "town and girl" and "city and boy" ... also the words are placed in the train and the train itself is set against a night sky backdrop to illustrate the sense of going anywhere with no fixed destination.  The way the trains head off in separate directions further enhance the contrast.  Others such as the word lonely are shown as being cut off from the rest of the sentence.
